Back at Es Glop!
Like the digging of the Channel Tunnel between southern England and France, the moment of truth is when the two ends meet up (or don't!).
Today was the day to fit the neck to the body. It has to be a tight fit for best resonance, and this has to be GOOD!
Firstly, after the morning Es Glop procedure, the morning was spent shaping the rounded backside of the neck. After hoping this might be an automated process to get proper symmetry in the profile, the manual approach seemed complex but worked out pretty well. Rather like the kids paper folding game, Origami, we had to measure the neck profile in ever decreasing halves and file ever diminishing clean angles until the neck was a series of tiny flat faces. Then to complete the round, we just sanded the remaining fine edges. Works pretty well, but its a mind-game as you constantly worry about over doing it.

Lunch was a liquid affair with plenty of wine, but the Hierbas did the damage. I should have had a siesta but ended up as mellow as a newt and had to return for delicate routing of the body recess for the neck connection.
Lots of angles, cant, trajectory, and other angle based adjustments prior to routing. I had no idea what we were doing, but followed instructions. At the end, it all made sense. The neck fit like a well made piece of furniture.
Connection made! It looks more and more like the real thing!
Winding pickups today methinks . . .
And the weekend starts this afternoon. Beach Barbeque with the rest of the crew. I am sure there will be some refreshment too . . .
